Cricket history was created at Super Sport Park in Centurion today when Sachin Tendulkar posted his 50th Test century in the on-going first Test against South Africa. By achieving the feat, Tendulkar became the first batsman in the 133-year history of Test Cricket to complete a half-century of hundreds.Besides being the only cricketer in the planet to score 50 Test centuries, Tendulkar also holds the record for most number of ODI hundreds. He has so far to his credit 46 centuries in one-day internationals. Tendulkar now has 96 international centuries, the most by any batsman.Meanwhile, the President Mrs Pratibha Devisingh Patil has commended Sachin Tendulkar for hitting 50th Century in test cricket. In a message, she said, the spectacular achievement will inspire the youth in the country to aim high in life.Former players were tonight effusive in their praise for Sachin Tendulkar who today became the first man in the history of Test cricket to post 50 centuries. The champion batsman scaled the milestone when he drove Dale Steyn for a single on the fourth day of the first Test against South Africa at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. Former India skipper Dilip Vengsarkar said, it was an absolutely outstanding innings, an outstanding milestone in history of cricket. Former India opener and chairman of the selection committee, Kris Srikkanth, described Tendulkar as the god of world cricket and termed his achievement as super human effort.South Africa, however, are on the verge of winning the opening Test. India were 454 for 8 in their second innings when bad light interrupted the penultimate day's play.Tendulkar was not out on 107 with Sreesanth not out on Three. Earlier, Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni made a fine 90.India had begun the day at their overnight score of 190 for two.The scores so far: India : 136 and 454 for 8.South Africa – 620 for four declared.
