Ten Ministers in Andhra Pradesh offer to resign on Telangana issue

In Andhra Pradesh, about 10 ministers belonging to Telangna region have conveyed their intention to resign from the state cabinet as well as the Assembly protesting against absence of time frame in the Centre’s latest announcement over Telangana issue. Over 60 MLAs across party lines belonging to Telangana region have already tendered their resignations demanding that the Centre should abide by its earlier stand to carve out Telangana state. The Ministers belonged to Telangana have conveyed their feelings to Chief Minister Rosaiah and sought a clarification on the time frame for wide ranging consultations from the Congress party high command.Meanwhile, with the respite announced from Bandh by the Telangana Joint Action Committee, Christmas is being celebrated today across the Telangana region with joy and religious fervour. Thousands of Christians have attended special midnight mass and services at various churches across the state. On the other hand, the situation is so far peaceful in Telangana Region where protests against Centre’s latest announcement turned violent at several places yesterday. The services of the state Road transport Corporation are plying in several districts following the TRS’s assurance that the bandh would be relaxed for today in view of Christamas. According to Police, the situation is still volatile in Osmania University Campus where police resorted to lathicharge yesterday to disburse the agitating students. The police are not allowing any political pleaders to visit the campus after TDP MLAs were attacked last evening. Meanwhile, deployment of additional forces in Hyderabad and other Telangna district is underway.
