Several people are still trapped under the debris of the collapsed eleven storey building since yesterday at Chennai. The Superintendent of the National Disaster Response Force , NDRF team told that it might take two more days to clear the debris and complete the rescue work. Ten persons have been killed and 25 others injured in the mishap.

Union Minister of State Pon Radhakrishnan visited the site and took stock of the situation. The DIG of Police Ramanujam said that four persons are being interrogated to find out the cause of the accident. Police registered a case under the Section 304 of the IPC and arrested the building owner, Manoharan, and his son Muthu. They have been taken into custody and are being questioned.

A control room has been set up for information relating to the accident and the number is 1070.
