The ten-day Mysuru Dasara festival was inaugurated by celebrated Kannada novelist Dr. S L Bhyrappa yesterday by offering floral tributes to the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari atop Chamundi Hill. Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and other dignitaries were present on this occasion. <br />''<br />'' The festival will be marked by cultural programmes, sports events, wrestling competition, film and food festival, book exhibition, flower shows. The illuminated palaces, fountains, flower decorations and the display of tradition and heritage are drawing crowds in large numbers from across the world. The birth centenary celebration of the erstwhile ruler of Mysore Jayachamaraja Wadiyar is included in the Dasara festival this year. Badminton world champion P V Sindhu will launch the Dasara sports events. Ranu Mandal, whose singing capabilities were discovered by a video at the Kolkata Railway Station will be honoured on the occasion.</span><br />
