The ten-day Ganapati Festival is concluding today with a long immersion procession in a charged atmosphere of faith and traditional fervor. Many Ganesh mandals have built attractive tableaux and they are accompanied by bands of drums and zanzas as well as lezim troupes.
In Pune, the mandal workers are carrying placards depicting socially relevant messages written on them. Men and women in traditional attire chanting “Ganapati Bappa Moraya” and teams performing adventurous games are drawing hundreds of people from the city as well as adjoining areas.
