Temple security tightened after treasure discovery

The Kerala Government has further intensified security at the historical Sree Padmanabha Swami temple in Thiruvananthapuram as huge quantity of precious metals and diomonds worth about Rs 50,000 crore have been unearthed from the underground cellars of the temple.Surpassing all expectations, gold, silver and precious stones of great antique value have been taken out from the secret underground cellars of Sree Padmanbha swami temple of God's own country. With this Sree padmanabha swami temple has emerged as the richest shrine in the country.A lion's share of this treasure belonged to the Kings of the royal family of Travancore. The state government is likely to seek Central assistance to ensure security of the temple.After opening one more secret cellar, the final list of inventories will be submitted to the Supreme Court.
