The drop in the temperature to below normal level in Punjab is not good for the standing wheat crop.Agriculture experts say it can lead to fungus in the crop. Besides, strong winds have also created problems for the crop as the grains get scattered. Our Jalandhar corrrespondent reports that the present weather condition has delayed the arrival of wheat in the mandis for procurement because rains have hamprered harvesting as well.However, the weather is considered good for vegetables like brinjal, lady finger, bitter guard etc. but not for fruits like Melon and Water Melon.
