Telengana: TRS Chief meets PM

The Telengana Rashtra Samiti Chief, Mr. K. Chandra Sekhar Rao today met the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh and discussed with him the Telengana issue. He was accompanied by senior party leader, Professor Jayshankar. Ahead of the meeting, Professor Jayshankar, who is a Telengana idealogue, said that his party is prepared to wait for a reasonable time if Central Govenment is sincere about creating the state. The Home Minister, Mr. P. Chidambaram held talks with the leaders of eight parties from Andhra Pradesh to thrash out the issue but the consensus eluded the political parties. He held separate talks with the political leaders from Andhra Pradesh, apart from senior officers of the state administration and police to know the ground situation. Reports say that centre may set up a committee to look into the Telengana issue as political parties are divided over it. While the Congress says its stand on Telengana issue has been clear in its manifesto, BJP has openly pledged its support to the issue.
