Telengana JAC Assembly March: Leaders in custody; Road, rail traffic hit; schools shut in twin cities

In Andhra Pradesh, barring minor incidents,the situation remains peaceful but tense in Hyderabad. Unprecedented security arrangements have been made in and around Hyderabad to thwart the proposed “Assembly March” agitation. Pressing their demand for statehood for Telangana, the Telangana Joint Action Committee has called for the agitation. Political parties including TRS, BJP and CPI and several other organisations have supported it.

Police have taken leaders including JAC Chairman Prof Kodanda Ram into custody. Several MPs and MLAs and leaders of TRS, BJP and CPI have also been arrested when they were violating law.Blocking of all roads leading to the Assembly with barbed wire and barricades has posed severe inconvenience to people. Road and Rail traffic has been affected. Schools and Colleges in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad have been closed
