Communications Minister Manoj Sinha has said that telecom industry is expected to generate 40 lakh jobs in the country. <br/><br/>Addressing the India Mobile Congress-2017 in New Delhi today, Mr Sinha said, India is currently the second largest telecommunication market in the world with over 1.2 billion subscriber base and approximately 45 crore internet users. He said that driven by the adoption of smartphones and exponential increase in data consumption, telecom industry is expected to generate revenue of around 38 billion dollar by 2017. <br/><br/>The Minister said, the Telecom and IT presently contribute 16.5 percent to the GDP and there are immense possibilities for increasing its share even as other sector also show robust growth.
