In Andhra Pradesh, the Rail Roko agitation called by Telangana Joint Action Committee is underway so far peaceful amidst tight security arrangements. The Telangana JAC has called for 12-hour Rail Roko pressing their demand for introduction of bill in Parliament over statehood for Telangana. Rail Commuters are facing hardships with the South Central Railway canceling or rescheduling most of the Express trains and passengers which pass through Telangana districts. In Hyderabad, all the MMTS services, special and passenger trains originating and terminating in Telangana stand cancelled today. Meanwhile, the police patrols have been deployed for every two to three km of rail length in view of the likelihood of sabotage of tracks and tampering of signalling equipment during the ‘rail roko' programme. Meanwhile, agitators in large numbers have come on to the tracks and demonstrating their protest by way of cooking on tracks and conducting cultural programmes.
