In Telangana, the Intensive Household Survey is underway in full swing. Aiming at collecting the socio-economic data of each household in the newly formed state, the state government began the survey in all its 10 districts.
Nearly four lakh enumerators are taking part in the massive exercise to collect data about 90 lakh families across the state. The state authorities have said, the survey is going on smoothly in all the districts.
Helplines have been set up in all the districts to receive complaints and suggestions with regard to the survey. The officials have been making alternate arrangements on receiving complaints in case the enumerators do not reach a locality.
The survey is likely to continue till 7pm to ensure coverage of all households. AIR Correspondent reports that most of the native Telanganaites who migrated for their employment to other places, have returned to their homes just to take part in the Intensive Household Survey.
This is the biggest ever socio-economic survey done by any state in which about 90 lakh households are being enumerated in one go on a single day.
While the survey is underway smoothly, reports are reaching Hyderabad that people in some parts have raised their resistance to give information on their nativity and where they born.
Otherwise busy roads of the capital city, Hyderabad wore a deserted look as most of the Hyderabadis left for their native places.
The state Government is repeatedly assuring that the survey is to only ensure all eligible persons to get benefits of welfare schemes. However, as the Hyderabad High Court directed, disclosing information is not mandatory.
