Telangana JAC calls for Rail Roko

In Andhra Pradesh, police have made elaborate arrangements for protecting rail passengers and railway property in the wake of Rail Roko agitation called by Telangana Joint Action Committee tomorrow. As part of its ongoing non-cooperation agitation, the Telangana JAC has called a Rail Roko tomorrow from 6 AM to 6 PM in the region to bring pressure on State and Central Governments to introduce a bill on statehood for Telangana in Parliament.Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad today, state Director General of Police Aravinda Rao said patrolling of each and every railway section on important trunk lines connecting to Chennai, Delhi, Bengalore and Visakhapatnam has been undertaken. Appealing to the agitators to desist from harming passengers, the DGP said police pickets are being set up where ever necessary to prevent any serious accidents and likelihood of sabotage.Meanwhile, South Central Railways has appealed to its passengers not travel tomorrow in the likely to be affected areas and issued ‘Look out Caution’ orders to its staff so that the speed of the trains will be reduced. Several trains are also cancelled or rescheduled in view of the proposed Rail Roko.
