Telangana: JAC blockade creates traffic hurdle on NH 9 in Nalgonda district

In Andhra Pradesh, vehicular traffic was obstructed today for several hours on the National Highway number 9 in Nalgonda district following Telangana Joint Action Committee called for 24-hour blockade as part of its ongoing general strike for statehood. The JAC, however, called off its protest later in the afternoon. Hundreds of vehicles including trucks, private buses and cars were stranded for over 60 kilometers due to the blockades set up by agitators in the boarder districts between Telangana and Coastal Andhra regions in the state.Meanwhile, state owned Road Transport Corporation buses remained off the roads in Telangana region while very few city buses are plying in Hyderabad as the ongoing general strike entered 22nd day today. On the other hand, in view of severe power deficit that Andhra Pradesh is facing, the Centre has agreed to provide about 800 MW from Northern grid from 11 pm to 6 am every day while Haryana Government has agreed to provide 200MW throughout the day.Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has directed the officials to provide sufficient supplies to agriculture to save the standing crops in the present kharif season.
