Akashvani Correspondent reports, unlike in some parts of the Country, in South India Dussehra also called Navaratri festival, is victory of Good over Evil. As per mythology Goddess Durga fights with the buffalo Demon King Mahaisasura for nine days and on the 10th day i.e. on Vijayadasimi day she devours the demon king. Commemorating the victory, people celebrate by burning the effigy of Mahisasura on the 10th day. Vijayadashami also marks the day that Pandava warrior Arjuna defeats the Kauravas. Organisations like Hyderabad Bengali Samithi, Cyberabad Bangali Association; Utsab Cultural Association among many also organise the Durga Puja pandals for the festivities.
