In Andhra Pradesh, normal life has been hit in Telangana region today due to bandh call given by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) protesting the ordinance merging about 150 villages in seven Mandals of Khammam district in Andhra Pradesh, post bifurcation.
Stating that merger of these villages without consulting the stakeholders is unconstitutional, TRS President K Chandrasekhara Rao has called for day-long bandh, five days ahead of assuming power in the new-born Telangana state.
Public road transport has been severely affected in all the 10 districts of the region as TRS activists and agitators from Employees and student unions held demonstrations at several places since early hours.
Shops, business establishments and hotels were closed down at many places across the region. Commuters are facing inconvenience with the state owned Road Transport Corporation suspending thousands of services from Hyderabad to various destinations.
Several educational institutions including Osmania and Kakatiya universities have postponed the Post Graduation level examinations scheduled for today.
The Board of Intermediate Education has postponed the supplementary exams for 11th and 12th classes across the state. In Hyderabad, the affect of bandh is partial.
The private vehicles are plying normally and business establishments are working as usual while the city public buses confined to the depots.
