Telangana Government conducts intensive household survey

In Telangana, elaborate arrangements have been made for conducting a massive, Intensive Household Survey (IHS) today across the state.

The unprecedented exercise will be completed this evening by 5 PM on a mission mode to enumerate socio-economic details of each household in the state.

Over three and half lakh enumerators have been pressed into service to collect data from about 82.5 lakh households in 10 districts of the state.

The details of each family including their caste, nativity and religion will be enumerated as part of the survey.

Economic data of the family will be collected including income, Aadhar number and property details.

The government aimed at creating a common database which may be used as basis for extending the benefits of welfare programmes.

The State Government has declared a paid holiday today for private and government institutions and shops and business entities.

People who migrated to other places like Mumbai and Surat seeking employment are coming back to their native places to take part in the survey.

The nativity column in the survey form and the year of migration are causing apprehensions among the people who came from outside Telangana.

However, following a direction from the Hyderabad High Court, the Government announced that the disclosing of information is voluntary.
