Congress Ministers and Legislators from Rayalseema and Coastal Andhra regions have asked the state leadership to impress upon the party high command to reverse its decision on separate Telangana state or join the movement for the united state.
About 70 Ministers and MLAs attended the 4-hour long meeting held by Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy in Hyderabad last evening. Besides PCC President Satyanarayana, two AICC secretaries were also present at the meeting that was held to pacify leaders from Seemandhra in the wake of protests in the regions.
Later some legislators told reporters that a resolution favouring a united Andhra Pradesh was passed. The meeting also opined that the High Powered Committee that the high command will form should not take a stand on bifurcation unless the views of seemndhra leaders heard.
Earlier, a group of Ministers and Legislators from Telangana have urged the state leadership to prevail upon the Seemandhra leaders to cooperate for formation of Telangana state.
Meanwhile, protest demonstrations continued in Seemandhra regions with more and more sections of people joining the agitation.
