The vacancy was caused due to disqualification of the sitting Member of the Legislative Council R. Chandrashekar Rao, Kalvakuntla Kavita, is seeking election to the State Legislative Council. Kavita, who was a TRS MP, had lost the 2019 General Elections from Nizamabad to the BJP candidate. Besides Kavita, Laxminarayana of the BJP and Subhas Reddy of the Congress are among the prominent contestants. The by-poll was scheduled on 4th of April, but got postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Election officials have set up 50 Polling Stations for the 824 members representing local bodies in Nizamabad. The counting will continue till 5 P.M. Our Correspondent says, the COVID-19 protocol is being followed and every voter is asked to use sanitizer and hand gloves.
