In Andhra Pradesh, the Telangana bandh called by Telangana Joint Action Committee on Friday has passed off peacefully amidst tight security arrangements. The Committee called for the bandh alleging that the State Government has been oppressing employee’s proposed agitation for statehood. Several agitators including political leaders were taken into custody when they protested at public places. Commuters faced severe hardships with the State Transport Corporation suspending thousands of its services across Telangana region due to Bandh. Shops and educational institutions remained closed.
