Tejas LCA handed over to IAF

Indegenously developed Tejas Limited Series Production 7 and 8 Light Combat Aircraft will be handed over to Indian Air Force for user evaluation trials shortly. A DRDO release in Bangalore has said that HAL conducted successful flight test of Limited Series Production 7 of LCA today and the aircraft is close to achieve the Initial Operational Clearance standard. During the flight test today the prototype was not accompanied by the customary ‘chase’ aircraft for the first time. DRDO sources said that this is an indicator to the level of confidence in the flying machine. The release adds that during the test flight, performance of the aircraft systems including Multi-mode Radar, Helmet Mounted Display System, Auto-pilot and Instrument Landing System were satisfactory. The flight lasted 28 minutes with Group Captain KK Venugopal at the controls in the cockpit and Wing Commandar Kabadwal of the National Flight Test Centre as Test Director in the telemetry.
