Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that technology will continue to be a key driver of economic growth and instrument for poverty elimination in India. Speaking at the meeting of NITI Aayog in New Delhi today, Mr Modi said, India has not succeeded in making the best and efficient use of the natural resources such as solar energy, and there is need to make an exhaustive list of untapped natural resources and the potential of which that can be fully exploited. <br/><br/>He said, optimal utilisation of India's existing resources should be the way forward for charting out a growth strategy for India. Mr Modi said, there is a need to make States equal partners in economic and social development. He also stressed upon strengthening States to create a strong India.<br/><br/>The Prime Minister said, the country needs futuristic planning to develop its natural as well as human resources. He also said that there is a need to think of multiple utility of existing institutions and resources in to benefit maximum number of citizens. Mr Modi stressed on the need for technological innovation in agriculture that will bring about a revolution and pull millions out of poverty. <br/><br/>He said, developing sectors like tourism are key to creating large number of low skilled jobs for the underprivileged in the country. Mr Modi said, NITI Aayog needs to work towards intensive partnership with all States with a focus on human resource development. He said, NITI Aayog should lead the way forward in fostering innovative, out of the box, thinking for the development of India.<br/><br/>The meeting was convened to give concrete shape to 15-year vision document for accelerating all round development of the country. During the meeting, NITI Aayog made a presentation to the Prime Minister on the progress made so far on the vision document. The meeting was attended by NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Arvind Panagariya, CEO Amitabh Kant and other members.
