Tech revolution sweeping country in form of digital payments: MJ Akbar

Minister of state for External Affairs M J Akbar today said the technology revolution is sweeping the country in the form of digital payments at present and it will help eliminating poverty and corruption. He was addressing media in Hyderabad this morning after formally inaugurating the Digi Dhan Mela in Hyderabad. <br/><br/>Stating that the measures taken for encouraging digital economy have brought in a biggest revolution off-late, he said the digital payments are important for improving livelihood of common people especially in rural areas. He said the technology revolution is changing and improving the quality of life of the poorest of the poor. <br/><br/>He further said the importance of the PM's Jan Dhan Yojana has become more evident post demonetisation. He also criticised the opposition parties mainly Congress party saying that they are against change and they are in favour of corruption. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion Labour Minister Dattatreya said nearly 5.5 lakh people at Gram Panchayat level and 1.29 lakh enterprenuers have been given training in digital transactions so far. He said 380 workshops were organised in this connection. <br/><br/>He further said the Employees Provident Fund Organisation has opened over 50 lakh new accounts post demonetisation across the country. The labour minister appreciated Telangana syate government' measures to enhance digital transactions and efforts to make Siddipet a cashless municipality. <br/><br/>The banks, Public Sector Units and various central and state government department have set up over 200 stalls in the Digi Dhan Mela to enhance digital literacy among people and entrepreneurs. A large number of people and business persons thronged the Digi Dhan Mela on the occasion.
