Further to Government decision to continue cotton exports, Tirupur Export Association(TEA) in Tamil Nadu appealed to Government of India to impose a ceiling on cotton exports by 4 lakhs bales monthly and 50 lalkhs bales yearly. The Tirupur Association along with Federation of Indian Export Association, submitted a memorandum to Union Textile Minister Dayanidhi Maran saying that raw cotton exporters can thereby ensure regular export supply and at the same time supply raw cotton to domestic users at reasonable price.
