The TDP leaders were taken into custody at Dharmabad near Andhra-Maharastra boarder last Friday when they were trying to visit Babli irrigation site for physical verification. Maharashtra police have forcibly shifted them from Dharmabad on Tuesday as they were remanded till 26th of this month. The TDP leaders alleged that they have been ill-treated by Maharastra Government and several MLAs were injured during lathi-charge. On arrival in Hyderabad, Chandrababu Naidu said the movement against Babli would continue. AIR Correspondent reports, the five day long row between Maharastra Government and the TDP delegation that wanted to visit Babli irrigation project on Maharastra side concluded after dropping all cases against them and made them board a chartered flight to Hyderabad. The TDP delegation determined to visit Babli project to verify project progress before an all party meeting with prime Minister as Andhra Pradesh has been objecting the construction of the project as it will dry up the Sriram Sagar project on Andhra side. Supreme Court has directed the Maharashtra Government not to fix up the gates of the project till its final orders issued. On arrival at the Hyderabad airport last night, hundreds of TDP workers accorded a hero's welcome to Naidu. From there, he travelled in an open jeep before going to a corporate hospital past-midnight for a medical check-up. Meanwhile, TDP supporters went on the rampage in several parts of Andhra Pradesh alleging that Nanded police lathicharged their MLAs and roughed up TDP supremo. They burnt buses at some places, attacked public properties and a political party office in Karimnagar. The TDP demanded central government’s intervention besides ordering a judicial enquiry over the alleged ill-treatment and allow them to verify the contentious Babli project. Meanwhile, the all party delegation from Andhra Pradesh to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to present the concerns of the state has been postponed to 26th of this month.
