TC Gehlot asks States to implement Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act

Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot on Saturday asked states to implement the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 in its letter and spirit. <br/><br/>He asked the states to implement at least four per cent reservations in employment for Divyangjan without fail and asked them to prepare modalities for the same under the Act. He was addressing a gathering of Divyangajan in Hyderabad Saturday morning. <br/><br/>Stating that states like Madhya Pradesh are implementing six per cent reservation for Divyangajan in jobs, he asked the states to follow the same principle to make use of potentiality of Divyangjan. '<br/><br/>Further stating that some states like Telangana have not adopted the Act even now, he said the earlier governments have ignored the welfare of persons with disabilities for the past many years. <br/><br/>He said Divyangjan will get five per cent reservations in higher education. The Union Minister also visited the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities in Hyderabad.
