A recent survey conducted by global consultancy EY and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) on the aviation sector has shown that the aviation sector requires proper implementation of policies, coupled with reasonable taxes and improved basic infrastructure. According to a statement issued in Mumbai on Monday, the survey showed that mere policy initiatives such as foreign direct investment in airlines and privatising airports will not help the sector come out of the airpocket. The survey has further shown that while the government has been broadly successful towards making the aviation climate positive and favourable through a series of policy initiatives, seamless implementation of the policies is required to uplift the crisis hit aviation sector in the medium to long term. The survey further said that taxation issues along with the poor infrastructure constitute the largest impediment to growth of the aviation industry and the proposed Civil Aviation Authority is a crucial step for developing the sector.
