Tax exemption for IRCS from June: Azad

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad says, Indian Red Cross Soceity, IRCS will be allowed to get income tax exemption from June this year. Speaking at a function on the eve of World Red Cross Day which falls on 8th of May,organised by IRCS in New Delhi,the Minister said that monetary help to the Red Cross Society used to be taxable but after the issue was raised with Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and has allowed the exemption. He said that the move will give a great boost to the activities of the Society.Noting this years' Theme- 'Find the volunteer inside you,' Azad said that the topic is very relevant and will inspire many to join Red Cross movement. He also called upon the youth to imbibe spirit of volunteerism and came forth for blood donation which can actually save lives of many people.
