The Calcutta High court on Thursday directed the District Magistrate of Hooghly to submit a report on whether there has been any case of pilferage of material in the Tata Motors Plant area in Singur. Justice Soumitra Pal directed the Districts Magistrate to file the report by 11 AM on Friday when the petition by Tata Motors challenging the Singur Land Rehabilitation and Development Act, 2011, will be heard again. Tata Motors Counsel Samaraditya Pal alleged that materials from the Plant area are being pilfered. AIR Kolkata correspondent reports that, the Tata Motors moved to the Calcutta High court challenging the Act on Wednesday and sought a stay on the Government initiatives in taking possession of the Land which was leased out to Tata Motors for setting up the Nano Car plant in Singur by the previous Left Front Cabinet. The Act scrapped the previous Government’s deal with Tata Motors which will pave the way for returning land to the unwilling farmers.
