In Assam, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi's government will be expanded with the induction of 18 new ministers today. According to sources in the Chief Minister’s office, 14 Ministers with Cabinet rank and four Ministers of State with Independent Charge are to be inducted in the new ministry. State Governor Janaki Ballav Patnaik will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers at a function organized at the ITA Cultural Centre at Guwahati at 4.00 pm. The new ministers to be inducted with Cabinet rank includes- Prithibi Majhi, Gautom Roy, Tanka Bahadur Rai, Ajanata Neog, Akon Bora, Dr. Ardhendu Dey, Chandan Brahma, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Khor Singh Engti, Dr. Nazrul Islam, Nilomoni Sen Deka, Pradyut Bordoloi, Pranati Phukan and Rockybul Hussain. The Ministers of State with Independent Charge includes Ajit Singh, Basanta Das, Rajib Lochan Pegu and Siddique Ahmed. AIR Correspondent reports that six new faces have been included in the new Congress-led Cabinet.Mr. Gogoi was sworn-in as Chief Minister of the State for the third consecutive term on 18th of this month. The Congress had won 78 of the 126 Assembly seats in the State Assembly polls. 12 BPF legislators besides one member from Trinamool Congress and another independent legislator are also supporting the Congress for formation of the Government.
