Tarun Gogoi takes over as Assam CM for third consecutive term

In Assam, Veteran Congress leader, Tarun Gogoi took oath as the Chief Minister of the State for a third consecutive time on Wednesday afternoon. State Governor Janaki Ballav Patnaik administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new Chief Minister at the Darbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan in Guwahati a short while ago.Our correspondent reports , the 75-year-old lawyer-turned politician Tarun Gogoi has been sworn in as the 14th Chief minister of the state. After being re-elected as the CLP leader, Mr. Gogoi had announced that his Government would mainly focus on economic development, tackling unemployment problem and restoration of peace in the State. He said, the responsibility of the Government has increased manifold as the people of the State have supported the Congress overwhelmingly with more expectations to bring the party to power again.Talking to media persons after the swearing-in ceremony, the Chief Minister Mr. Gogoi said economic development, solution of unemployment problem and restoration of peace in the State would be his high priority area. He said the responsibility of his new Government has increased manifold as the people of the State have returned the Congress party with comfortable majority for the third consecutive term.
