Tap language experts resource to meet challenges in changing global order: Ansari

New Delhi today asserted that the distinction between State and non State actors responsible for terrorist acts has diminished. Addressing a National Conference on India's relations in the changing global order in New Delhi today, National Security Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon said that this is important in view of the fact that some non state actors are indulging in acts of violence at the behest of the state.

Mr.Menon said that the atmosphere at the international level is changing and there is a strong shift in the nature of power. He added that this is due to non- traditional factors especially the growing demand for food and energy needs. Mr. Menon urged India to anchor this shift in balance of power towards itself.

Inaugurating the conference, Vice President Mohd. Hamid Ansari strongly pitched for creating a national resource based of language professionals for meeting emerging challenges in the changing global order.

He said this resource base can be tapped by the government besides media, academia, industry and business for meeting this objective. Mr. Ansari asserted that India's understanding of international affairs has not to be just based on academic output of foreign institutions but also on its relations and contemporary realities and concerns.

The Vice President stressed the need to address shortage of skilled linguistic professionals and understanding India's historical ties with other countries as a pre- requisite to achieve this objective.
