Tanzanian student case: BJP questions silence of opposition parties

BJP today questioned the silence of opposition parties over the incident of alleged beating of a Tanzanian woman in Bangalore and other recent incidents of crime against women in non- BJP ruled states. Citing the last month's incidents including gang rape of a 40-year-old women in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, who later committed suicide and a rape of a minor in Tripura, the party wondered why Congress, Left, JD(U) and others are mum on such incidents.

BJP Secretary Shrikant Sharma alleged police was inactive towards the Tanzanian woman incident and law and order has become casualty in Karnataka. He said it is unfortunate that opposition parties have been selective to raise their voice on such incidents only in BJP ruled states. The 21-year-old Tanzanian was reportedly dragged out of the car in which she was seated along with her three friends on Sunday night and was beaten.
