Tamils’ resettlement to dominate talks with visiting Sri Lankan Prez

Resettlement of Tamils in Sri Lanka and political solution to the ethnic issue are likely to be the focus of discussion between the visiting Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Indian leaders. Expansion of cooperation in economy and defence are also high on the agenda. <br/> <br/>The Sri Lankan President arrived this evening on a four day visit to India. He will hold delegation level talks with the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh at Hyderabad House tomorrow. <br/> <br/>Official sources said that some agreements will be signed after the talks. This includes one on cooperation to fight the menace of terrorism. Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee is holding discussions with the visiting President later this evening. UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Mrs. Sushma Swaraj will call on the visiting dignitary to exchange views on issues of mutual interest. The President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil is hosting a banquet in the honour of the visiting President. Before leaving home he will also visit Chandigarh and Shimla. <br/> <br/>AIR correspondent reports that this is the first visit of the Sri Lankan President after he was re-elected in January this year.<br/><br/>
