Srilankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa said that by end of next month all Tamils living in camps will be sent back home. In an interview with the Hindu newspaper, he said out of 3 lakh internally displaced persons, only 18,000 are now living in the camps and they often go to villages and come back.He said those who wish to remain in the camps will not be sent back as the de-mining of the areas after elimination of LTTE is yet to be completed.Mr. Rajapaksa said the government will soon appoint a committee from both the sides to arrive at a political solution of the long standing ethnic problem. He said the priority is to win the hearts and minds of the Tamil people adding that they want a new leadership to be built up. The President informed that elections to northern provincial council will be held by next year.
