In Tamilnadu, Rajya Sabha MP Ms. Kanimozhi and Loksabha MP Mr.T.K.S.Elangovan along with thousands of protestors were arrested today while trying to proceed on a protest march in front of the Office of the Deputy High Commission in Chennai. The ruling DMK is protesting the arrest of Indian fishermen by the Srilankan fishermen and the Navy last night. More then one lakh fishermen belonging to Nagapattinam district stayed off from fishing demanding the release of the arrested Indian fishermen.Meanwhile, AIR Colombo correspondent reports, the arrested fishermen will be produced before a magistrate in Jaffna today. According to sources, Indian High Commission is already in touch with the Sri Lankan authorities to secure their early release . The newly opened Indian Consular General office in Jaffna is also in touch with the Indian fishermen and working on their early release.
