The Regional Weather Department has predicted more rains for another few days due to the presence of the low pressure in South East Bay of Bengal. The system continues to persist in the same place. It is likely to concentrate into a depression and is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm over South West Bay of Bengal in a day or two. Widespread rains in the Northern Coastal districts have been witnessed for the second day today throwing normal life out of gear.<br />''<br />'' Heavy rains are expected in Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram and Chengalpet in the next 24 hours. People living in low-lying areas near reservoirs have been taken to shelters. Tamilnadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin today took stock of the rain situation in the State. He also visited the Control Centre at Chennai Corporation and enquired the ready measures to tackle rain-related emergencies.&nbsp;<br />''<br />''He also instructed the authorities to monitor the rise in water levels in the nearby reservoirs supplying water to Chennai and asked them to take immediate steps when necessary. More than 25 thousand workers have been deployed by the Corporation to clear the debris and also to clear out the flood waters. The Corporation Commissioner Dr.Radhakrishnan and Secretary of CMDA Karthikeyan jointly met the media and said that continuous downpour of rain in Chennai and its suburban areas have made it a challenge to take remedial steps.
