Tamilnadu hikes compensation for lost crops

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr. M. Karuananidhi has announced a hike in compensation for farmers who had lost their crops in the recent rains. A press release issued in Chennai today said , that following representations from farmers, the government had decided to increase the cash compensation to Rs. 7500 per hectare for crops other than paddy and 4000 rupees per hectare for rainfed crops damaged. Earlier, the government had announced hike in the compensation to farmers, who had lost their paddy crops in the recent rain havoc to Rs. 10,000 per hectare.
