Tamilnadu Govt decided to take several measures to contain price of essential commodities

The Tamilnadu Government has decided to take several measures to contain price of essential commodities and vegetable. The decision was taken at the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mr.M.Karunanidhi and attended by senior ministers and top officials of the concerned departments today. It was decided to strengthen 125 farmer markets and to open 25 new such markets. The meeting also decided to immediately open vegetable selling points in and around Chennai and other municipal corporations which will directly procure and sell at a reasonable price. Another important decision was to write to the Centre for exempting sugar from Future trading and to ensure sufficient stock of pulses, palmolein and other grocery items to be distributed through PDS. The meeting was convened to discuss issues relating to control of prices close on the heels of Centre’s decision in this regard.
