The busy flower market in Thovalai, a small hamlet in the Kanyakumari district of Tamilnadu, is trying to come out of the negative effects of Covid 19 pandemic. Thovalai, near the famous Suchindram temple and very close to the Tamilnadu – Kerala border, is famous for the flower trade, especially lotus flowers.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">These flowers, used for rituals in temples, are plucked straight from the lotus creepers in various water bodies that are abundant in Kanyakumari district. More than 300 flower merchants in the market usually sell over 100 tonnes of flowers, including lotus flowers, during the ongoing ten day Onam festival.</span><br />
