A Tamilnadu fisherman was injured when the Indian Navy opened fire on a suspicious fishing boat in the Palk Bay near the India-Sri Lanka International Maritime Boundary Line. Indian Navy, which maintains a vigil over the waters that separate India and Srilankan International Maritime Boundary line observed a suspicious boat during early hours and warned it to stop. As the boat did not stop, Indian Navy ship as per standard operating procedures fired warning shots to stop the boat. In the incident, one of the crew members onboard the suspicious boat sustained an injury. The injured person was administered first aid by the ship and evacuated by an Indian Navy Chetak helicopter to INS Parundu at Ramnad and had been shifted to the Government Hospital, Ramanathapuram for further medical management. His condition is reported to be stable.
