The Tamilnadu Chief Minister Ms.J.Jayalalithaa has requested the prime minister to order deployment of the Central Industrial Security Force at the Mullaperiyar Dam site. She wrote a letter to Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh. Referring to the media reports that the Kerala Government is to install a real time monitoring system for water build up after entering into an agreement with the Department of Science and Technology, Ms. Jayalalithaa has said that the Government of Kerala is persistently engaged in fear mongering about the safety of the Mullaperiyar Dam. Reffering to earlier letters on the issue, the Chief Minister has called the decision to unilaterally install real time monitoring system a blatant violation of the principle of federalism and the constitutional framework.
