In Tamilnadu, Jal Diwali is celebrated in Chennai and Coimbatore today,&nbsp;November 9. The ambitious initiative Women for Water and Water for Women campaign was held at the Chembarambakkam drinking water treatment plant today. Women from various self-help groups visited the water treatment plant and had hands-on experience to understand the process involved in purifying and distributing drinking water effectively.&nbsp;<br />''<br />''With a resolve to water conservation, the women were given live demonstrations on the working of the plant. The Jal Diwali program at Coimbatore was organised by the Coimbatore corporation at the Pillur Joint Drinking Water Project Treatment plant in the Valayankadu area. More than a hundred members of women's self-help groups from Coimbatore City visited the drinking water treatment plant.&nbsp;<br />''<br />''Awareness messages on the importance of drinking pure water and also on the drinking water treatment activities were demonstrated to the women. Coimbatore Municipal Corporation Mayor Kalpana and Commissioner Sivaguru Prabhakaran inaugurated the event. Jal Diwali is a nationwide campaign that ends today. It is an initiative launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs under its flagship scheme – AMRUT.<br />
