Tamilnadu Assembly speaker D. Jayakumar has resigned. He submitted his resignation today. The reason is not known.The sudden decision was announced through a notification from the Assembly Secretary A. M. P. Jamaludeen. Deputy Speaker P.Dhanapal has been given the charge now.Jayakumar is a senior member of the AIADMK. He was elected four times from Royapuram Constituency in North Chennai. He had held the portfolios of Fisheries, Dairy Development, Animal Husbandry, Forest, Backward classed, Ex-Servicemen welfare and Minorities welfare between 1991 and 1996.
