In Tamil Nadu, vigorous campaigning is going on for the single phase poll in 234 constituencies. Senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Chennai for campaigning in the State. Leaders of alliance and opposition parties are also involved in election rallies, road shows, door to door campaigning and canvasing through social media.  Congress leader P. Chidambaram during his campaigning in Chennai blamed the AIADMK for not realizing that they are responsible for enslaving the State to the BJP. <br />''AIADMK Joint Coordinator and Chief Minister Palanisamy has accused DMK leader Stalin for meeting the people only for the sake of election and was living a double standard life. The State government has extended the lockdown period till the 30th of this month as covid clusters were reported in several districts. Covid testing and treatment facilities have been added according to the present situation. The health department has appealed to the people to take the vaccine as soon as possible.</span><br />
