The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr. M. Karunanidhi has said a resolution will be brought in the state assembly shortly to revive the legislative council which was abolished in 1986, Responding to a suggestion from DMK member Anita Radhakrishnan to revive the council in the state assembly today, he said the DMK party has always stood for a legislative council and pointed out that two resolutions were passed in the state assembly after the DMK came back to power after 1989. He said however the Aiadmk which had come to power after that had revoked the resolutions brought by the DMK. <br/><br/>The Congress party welcomed the move of the chief minister to revive the legislative council while the left party members opposed it.
