The Tamil Nadu school education department has introduced a new scheme for primary school students to bridge the learning gap that was caused by the Covid-19 lock down in the last two years. The scheme called "Ennum Ezhuthum ,'' which means 'numerals and letters,' was launched by Chief Minister MK Stalin in a school near Puzhal village in Tiruvallur District near Chennai yesterday.<br />'' <br />''In his speech, Mr Stalin elaborated on the objectives of the scheme saying, it was aimed at making the first to third standard students to read and write flawlessly and to improve their numerical ability. The scheme would be implemented for three years in Government and aided schools. The curriculum has been devised in such a way that the children would find learning a joyful experience.<br />'' <br />''Mr Stalin informed in the meeting that 14-lakh school children from the state used Google's 'Read Aloud' app for twelve days from the 1st of this month and read a total of 200 crore words from 81 lakh stories. He said it is a new world record in mass reading using the app.<br />
