In Tamil Nadu, widespread destruction of Banana crops has been reported from the Bay of Bengal coastal districts. This follows strong winds and rain that battered various districts like Trichy and Pudukkottai last night.<br />'' <br />'' Earlier warning signs had been put up at the various ports in the area following prediction of Amphan cyclone in the Bay of Bengal. Farmers in the Pudukkottai district have claimed that about one hundred acres of Banana stalks have been destroyed. However, early official estimates indicate destruction of Banana in about 35 acres centred around areas like Gandharvankottai and Aranthangi.<br />'' <br />'' The Central Research Institute for Banana Crops in Trichy will also be undertaking a study of the destruction of Banana crops and to suggest ways and means to substantially reduce the loss suffered by farmers.&nbsp;<br />
