Tamil Nadu reports 75 new cases of COVID-19, taking total to 309 so far

<span style="color: #222222;">Tamil Nadu has reported 75 new cases of COVID-19, taking the total to 309 so far. 74 of the new cases are those who attended the Delhi Nizamuddin conference and another is a person with contacts with one of them. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">State health secretary Beela Rajesh told reporters in Chennai tonight that the patients are stable. All 1103 people identified in the state as those who attended the conference have been tested and the results of some of them are yet to be received. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">With the new tally, Tamil Nadu has moved to second place in the country in the list of states having the highest number of COVID-19 cases. Nearly nine thousand people who came in close contact with the new cases have been brought under quarantine. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">On the positive side, seven patients have been discharged from hospitals after their complete recovery so far.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu Government has announced a slew of incentives for those industrial units that come forward to manufacture medical equipment, protective gears and drugs against COVID-19 disease. Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy today said, all existing and new manufacturing units including the small and medium enterprises can avail the incentives. <br />'' <br />'' IR Correspondent reports that invasive ventilators, N-95 type masks, anti-viral and anti-malarial drugs that are being used to treat the symptoms of COVID-19, Personal Protective Equipment and Intensive Care Unit Monitors qualify for the new incentives. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The units are mandated to start the production of the medical equipment and drugs by the end of this July. The incentives include 30 per cent capital subsidy with the ceiling of Rs 20 crore. Six per cent of the interest for the loan being availed by such units as working capital will be paid by the state Industrial Development Corporation. They will be given priority in the state-run industrial estates to get the allotment of sheds or land. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">All the other concessions that are applicable to the thrust sectors will be extended to the new units also. They can straightaway start their production without waiting for any approvals. As the need for more ventilators, masks and medicines are expected to shoot up, the move has been made to increase their production. </span><br />
