As the Covid-19 caseload in Tamil Nadu keeps surging to record levels, the state health department is further reinforcing the strength of doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff. It is deploying 574 fresh postgraduate doctors and 665 doctors in the hospitals on a consolidated pay for three months. The move is aimed at enabling them to find employment or entrepreneurship opportunities in the state, as many of them are rendered jobless since their return. They have been asked to register themselves in the portal of the state skill development agency for arranging training modules that are suitable for them. Thousands of people have returned to the state from various parts of the country and abroad since the outbreak of the pandemic, even while several lakhs of guest workers left the state due to the sense of fear triggered by the virus. <br />
